The division of the blogs
Posted on November 17th, 2007 | by Billifer | blogging, blogs, feeds, Site Status, social networksImportant Things are changing. I’ve decided to divy up my blogging activity in a new way. What this means is a place for everything and everything in its place.
The division
- paXoo will contain my feature articles and commentary on society, politics, religion, technology, and sex. Updated infrequently.
- The Listless Literatus will be updated with (usually) short posts of über-emo intellectual posturing. If you like to hear the literate bemoaning the existentialism of their meager, insignificant lives, then you’ll live The Listless Literati. It’s updated rather frequently, but not quite reaching the level of blogarrhea.
- Flaming Fairy Orgasms on Acid is my collection of longer, more tangential thoughts and metaquotations gleaned from the web at large. More of a scrapbook of my mind, really. It is updated somewhat often.
- The Apple Blog is where I write all my Apple and Macintosh-directed articles now. Look for them there.
If you are interested in stalking following my entire presence, I make it easy for you with the use of Jaiku. Just watch my updates at my Jaiku, or subscribe in your RSS reader. (A summary of all feeds appears at the bottom of this post.) Additionally, there are some updates in Jaiku that do not go to other blogs.
Social Nets
- MySpace is still the old standard, despite what Facebook thinks.
- Mash is quickly becoming a favorite, though.
- No, I don’t have a Facebook.
Feed Summary
| If you want… | Subscribe to… |
|---|---|
| The whole shebang | |
| Social, sexual, and technological commentary | |
| Personal updates and random blogworthy bits | |
| Intellectual grandstanding and wanna-be emo antics | |
| Apple and Macintosh-related articles |
Again, if you subscribe to or follow the Jaiku stream, then there’s no need to follow any of the others: They are automatically included with the Jaiku stream. ⌘

Yikes, that is a lot of services to keep up with. I totally understand keeping everything organized but if I can’t integrate something with a service I already use, I have trouble adopting it.
Recent examples:
Jaiku - updated with GTalk. Utterz - updated via phone, pushed directly to my blog.
Also, I have trouble using my OpenID (via claimID) in your comments. I get a PHP redirect error.

Coop » Actually, I thought I had turned off the OpenID plugin. I never had gotten it to work. Sorry ‘bout that.
Trust me: I’m going to second-guess this decision to split everything. I didn’t even mention the LiveJournal that has been dead to me for a year and a half that I tried to revive. In fact, I just wrote a post at Listless Literatus about the compartmentalization of my mind.
Most of my services are updateable via open APIs–whether that’s Metaweblog/XML-RPC or some other API, so they do integrate well for me. And, in fact, all of them integrate with my cell –and it’s not even a smart phone. (Email to paXoo, SMS/MMS to Tumblr, SMS to Jaiku, Vox Moblogging, YouTube mobile vlogging, MMS to Flickr with autopost to blog, etc.)
