I’m not OK

A group of researchers at UCSD are working on the genetic and biochemical connection between circadian rhythm and bipolar disorder. I’d really like to get involved with their work as their favorite Wistar rat if you know what I mean (scientists don’t really use guinea pigs), so if any of you have connections to Drs Neivergelt, Kripke, or Kelsoe, get me the hook-up, OK?

As I wrote to my therapist in an email, I don’t really want to go back to the sleep specialist I was seeing because I don’t think he has a good appreciation of the psychiatric issues involved. And my psychiatrist all but admitted she’s in over her head months ago, so it’s a matter of treading water with me proposing new treatment regimens and her approving or rejecting them… I’ve been treading water for years now.

Ultimately I left my first psychiatrist in San Diego because she couldn’t help me anymore but wouldn’t admit it. At least my current doc has said that she is out of ideas, and has even suggested trying to shuffle me over to one of her associates whom she says is better equipped to handle my case. Maybe he is. Maybe it’s time for me to switch, even though I really work well with my current doctor’s style and demeanor.

On the other hand, the new “Top Doctors of San Diego”:http://www.sandiegomag.com/media/San-Diego-Magazine/October-2007/Top-Doctors-2007-The-List/index.php list for 2007 was just released, and there are quite a few psychiatrists on it–including both of my psychiatrist’s associates.

Please, friends, if any of you have thoughts on these matters (any of the things I’ve touched on), comment or email me (keep-billy-alive {at} paxoo(.)com) and let me know. Thanks so much.
