    I still don’t understand what a “tag” is?

    like WP 2.3’s new tags, what is a “tag”? I don’t get it. I am being serious, is it like a category?

    {{{ @ bubazoo–Tags are like categories but more flexible. A blog post (or a Flickr photo, or a bookmark at del.icio.us, or whatever) can have multiple tags, but generally categories are more rigid. Additionally, categories are typically hierarchical–you have to create them in a folder-link fashion, whereas tags are free to run around willy-nilly doing whatever they want.

    It’s common, also, to display tags in a tag cloud, as I do on the sidebar here. You’ll also find tag clouds at many other blogs and, as I mentioned, Flickr and del.icio.us as well. The thing about tag clouds is that they show the frequency or popularity of tags relative to one another, in two different ways: Tags that are more popular are generally in a larger font, a different color that stands out, or both. As you can see, the tags that I use most often here are “humor” and “YouTube”.

    I hope that answers some of your questions, but if not, take a look at “this Wikipedia article”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag_%28metadata%29 which should clarify up anything I’ve been unclear about. }}}
